The Gateway to Osaka

外国人観光客が大阪に来た時、市内で最初に通る駅が、JR難波駅か、南海難波駅、ではないでしょうか。

JR Namba Station or Nankai Namba Station is the very first station that foreign tourists will encounter in the city of Osaka.

そこの改札を出たところのサインは、、

When you step out of the ticket gate, you will see this sign..

表示の言語は、英語・韓国語・中国語ですね。

in English, Korean and Chinese.

コロナ前の大阪に来る外国人観光客の割合は、中国・香港・台湾の中国語圏が約63％、韓国からが約13％。

Before the pandemic, 63 percent of foreign tourists came to Osaka from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and 13 percent from Korea.

従って、この２言語は必ず表記される訳です。

No wonder why it’s written in those languages!

当然、駅名は英語表記です。

And of course, the name of the station is in English.

ところが、一つ不思議な看板を発見！

But I found a strange board sign!

英語と韓国語と、日本語（漢字）だけなんです。

Only in English and Korean with Japanese.

それとも、この漢字は中国語の「北口　南口」なんでしょうか！

Or is it because the Japanese is written in Chinese character that they don’t need extra translation for the words!
