Back from Singapore – Media Magic and Mario Kart at Changi

Media Moments While Heading to Jewel

As I was making my way toward Jewel — that iconic glass-and-steel dome that feels like the lovechild of a rainforest and a luxury mall — I found myself caught in what felt like a movie scene. High-def LED displays, immersive digital art, and seamless ambient soundtracks lined the walkway. It wasn’t just digital signage — it was storytelling in motion. It felt like the media itself was trying to impress me, and honestly? It succeeded.

Every step closer to Jewel felt like walking through a curated art gallery built by tech visionaries. Even after multiple visits, Changi has this uncanny ability to turn transit into a full sensory experience.

Nintendo Magic: A Mario Kart Pop-Up Surprise

Just when I thought I’d seen it all — boom — I ran straight into a Nintendo Switch pop-up store right near the entrance to Jewel. And not just any pop-up. This one had a Mario Kart experience zone. Picture it: a section of the terminal transformed into a mini race track, complete with Switch consoles, themed decor, and cheerful Mario music in the background. I may or may not have delayed heading to my gate just to squeeze in a quick race.

Coming back from Singapore, I was mentally gearing up to shift from “presentation mode” to “travel fatigue,” but Changi had other plans. It reminded me — once again — why it’s more than just an airport. It’s an experience.

From world-class digital media installations to unexpected fun like the Mario Kart pop-up, Changi isn’t just a gateway out of Singapore. It’s a destination in itself.

Till next time, Singapore. And next time, I’m packing less — to make space for a new Switch game or two.

Cheers,

Giselle
