Blue Christmas Vibes

I’ll have a Blue Christmas without you
I’ll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won’t be the same dear, if you’re not here with me
And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That’s when those blue memories start calling
You’ll be doin’ all right, with your Christmas of white
But I’ll have a blue, blue blue blue Christmas

Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley

We hope your Christmas was not blue as sung by Elvis Presley, but one that was warm and you had a good time of bonding and spending time with your friends and loved ones. 🙂

As much as we all wished for a snowy white Christmas here in Tokyo, the clear blue skies allowed people to enjoy the day off which coincided with Christmas Eve. Christmas being more of a couple’s event in Japan, lived up to its name as love was obviously in the air; seeing couples flooding malls, restaurants and illumination events to celebrate Christmas over the long weekend with their loved ones.

Today we will be sharing with you regarding one of the illumination events that went on in Tokyo in December. As mentioned before in our previous post, brands would usually sponsor these illuminations, so let’s check out one of the most popular illuminations in Tokyo this year!

Caution: Photos more than words in this post.

The Blue Cave “Aoi Doukutsu” @ Shibuya

With blue lights lining the main street in the Jinnan area, leading up to Koen Street in Shibuya, it was an easy to spot route to the Blue Cave. Wisely sponsored and planned by Nisshin Foods which has a pasta sauce brand under their belt called Ao no Doukutsu ; translated as “Blue Cave” , this event was a wise marketing plan as it attracted so many people to the place to take pictures.

Check out the pictures below:

Pictures were all taken on a weekday but it was just as crowded! The designers of this illumination had a reflective sheet stuck on the ground and this made it look like there was a stream running through the street. (We personally loved it!)
Even though the blue lights did become a little uncomfortable on the eyes after some time looking at it, this was definitely interesting as it probably helped most people to correlate this blue colored lights to the brand name itself.

Thinking you might have just missed this illumination? Fret not!The Blue cave illumination has a special ongoing event tied up with Google Assistant until the 31st of December 2018 🙂
